“Into the Frozen Abyss”
Shapes began to form in my mind, unbidden—dark silhouettes conjured from the storm’s shadows, vast and alien, moving with an unnatural hunger. They didn’t belong to this world but to some nightmare void where logic had no place. The thought constricted my chest, but I swallowed hard and forced my body into motion. Whatever was out there, I couldn’t afford to let fear freeze me here.
Determination replaced hesitation as I pressed forward, boots dragging through the snow. My eyes locked on the faint outlines of the trees ahead. Sweat trickled down my brow, fleeting warmth that carried a warning. Dampness was a threat as lethal as the cold—it would drain my body heat, turning survival into a gamble.
